Microscope Slide Cover Slips

Approximately 150 (one ounce by weight) Microscope Cover Slips in plastic case. 22 mm x 22 mm of No. 1 thickness (0.13 - 0.17 mm) Vacuum sealed for longer shelf life. Made in China. For ages 10 and up.
Easy Instructions for viewing microscopic life in liquids. (while protecting the microscope' lenses)
You will need microscope slides, Cover Slips, petroleum jelly and some interesting water. (Sea water is especially lively).
Place a small drop of water on the microscope slide with a pipet (the dirtier the water the better).
Place a thin film of petroleum jelly on your hand.
Carefully scrape the edge of a microscope cover slip along this film, thinly but completely covering one edge of cover slip. Repeat on all four edges of the cover slip- now you have an open sided box with flexible and hopefully waterproof edges.
Place the cover slip over the center of the drop of water on your slide. If it was a too large drop of water water may flow outside of your glass and jelly box- clean up around the edges with a paper towel. Now you can observe the Fascinating creatures as they swim around in the water, while protecting the microscope lenses. You can create two or three of these little aquariums on each slide so you'll be busy observing for hours.
Note that this will raise the thickness of the microscope slide so you should be extra careful not to break through the cover slip. The general rule is to lower the microscope lens to just above the cover slip then only focus by backing up and away from the cover slip. If you need to use higher magnifications like oil immersion we recommend you purchase the concavity slides.
