Nature Story Time-Every Friday. The Northwest Nature Shop offers a weekly nature story time for children of all ages. Make yourself comfortable in the toy room as kids are delighted with stories of bugs, bears, birds, jungles and more. Every Friday at 10:30 at the Northwest Nature Shop, 154 Oak St., Ashland. Thursday July 16th Slideshow with
William Sullivan author of Atlas of Oregon Wilderness. 7:00 pm at The Northwest Nature Shop: The Atlas of Oregon Wilderness is the complete adventurer's guide to Oregon's backwoods. It covers every Wilderness Area in the state, including the Soda Mountain Wilderness area in Southern Oregon added by Congress in March 2009. Sullivan is the author of a dozen books about Oregon and hiking. A fifth-generation Oregonian, Sullivan began hiking at the age of five and has been exploring new trails ever since. With Sullivan's beautiful photography and adventurous stories this slideshow will inspire many to take to the trails of Oregon. The slide presentation is free of charge.

SatAugust 1st Bird Walk to Mt. Ashland
The Northwest Nature Shop is pleased to continue our partnership with the Klamath Bird Observatory (KBO) by offering FREE monthly birding walks to the public on the first Saturday of each month.
On Saturday, August 1st at 8 am join a Klamath Bird Observatory ornithologist for an informative half-day outing to Mt. Ashland to discover what's happening with our local birds. Explore the highest peak of the Siskiyou Mountains with Mount Ashland resident and birding expert Frank Lospalluto. Climbing from the valley to nearly the top of the 7532 foot mountain, we will visit birding sites at a variety of elevations and explore the species of the habitats. Many wildflowers will be in bloom. Sites include parts of the scenic Pacific Crest trail . Bird species sighted may include White-headed Woodpecker , Lincoln Sparrow, Green-tailed Towhee , Fox Sparrow , and hummingbirds. Please bring binoculars if you have them and look forward to an enjoyable excursion into the wonderful world of birds

May 9th Mushroom Walk Meet at the Northwest Nature Shop at 10 am. Find mushrooms and learn how to identify the edible and poisonous ones. $15. Sign up in advance.
